SPN 415 - Spanish Civilization and Culture

Course Description:

 

An examination of the historical, political, intellectual, and cultural factors which have molded the Spanish people.  Readings, lectures and discussions in Spanish.  Three lecture hours per week.  Elective for Spanish Minors.  Offered in alternate years.  Prerequisite SPN202 or equivalent.

 

Course Objectives:

 

To discuss and analyze topics related to readings and lectures about Spanish culture based on authentic sources, literary, historical and artistic.

To establish connections among literature, other forms of art, history and society.

To establish similarities and differences between life in Spain and in the United States.

To actively participate in class discussions and the course listserv.

To write an analytical paper on any aspect of Spanish civilizations and cultures

To know the main facts of Spanish Civilizations and Cultures as a preparation for the Spanish portion of the Teacher’s Test.
